Chamber Music Competition
Space Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra is pleased to invite any Symphony or Philharmonic member to audition for the 2020-2021 Concerto and Chamber Music Competition.
A highlight of the SCSYO Concert Season, the Concerto Competition encourages students to step out of their roles within the orchestra, and into a soloist's seat. Students compete for a chance to play their solo accompanied by SCSYO's Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director, Maestro Mark Nelson.
NEW THIS YEAR, we will expand this competition to include CHAMBER ENSEMBLES. Students may form their own ensembles with other members of SCSYO to perform a piece of appropriate literature.
One Grand Champion soloist and one Grand Champion ensemble will be featured on the Side By Side concert with the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra in May.
How it works:
All contestants must submit an application using the link below. Please fill out only one application per Chamber Ensemble.
The Concerto and Chamber Music Competition will consist of two preliminary rounds. The first round of auditions will be a virtual submission of an audition video due on Monday, December 14th. Videos can be submitted to email@example.com.
Accompaniment is not required for Concerto Competition applicants for the first round. For Chamber Ensembles, all parts of the ensemble must be visible in the videos.
The second round of auditions will take place on Monday, January 18th at Temple Israel Viera. The second round of auditions is held as a Concerto and Chamber Music Competition Recital, and an accompanist is required for this performance.
All contestants (including all members of each ensemble) must be registered for Symphony or Philharmonic Orchestras of the SCSYO
Selected repertoire must have available orchestral parts (such as from imslp.org).
Application forms (below) must be submitted by December 14.
